What "licensed" means in Michigan

Anyone who applies pesticides for hire in Michigan has to be a certified commercial applicator, and the business has to be licensed through the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD). Certification is by category. For home pest control the two that matter most are 7A, general pest management (ants, roaches, mice, stinging insects and the like) and 7B, wood destroying organisms (termites and other wood destroying pests).

Before anyone treats your home, it is fair to ask for the company's license number, the technician's certification category, and proof of liability insurance. A good company will hand all three over without hesitation. We only pass requests to companies that meet that bar.
